My story of how my path became clearer with every step I took.

There was a time when I believed that every opportunity was the opportunity I had been waiting for. I chased many chances to grow, explored different fields, and tried to be everywhere at once. From the outside, it looked like ambition. But in reality, I was lost. I was busy, yet I wasn't moving toward a meaningful destination.

I couldn't confidently answer a simple question: Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

Everything changed the day I chose technology. For the first time, I wasn't following what sounded interesting. I was following what gave me purpose. I discovered a path that challenged me, inspired me, and gave me a vision for the future. I finally knew who I wanted to become. Becoming a software developer.

However, choosing the path was only the beginning.

The Battle Behind the Decision

I came into tech without a strong technical background. Every programming concept, every tool, and every project felt unfamiliar. Resources were limited. Access to a reliable laptop, stable internet, and enough time to practice was not always guaranteed. Balancing my studies, personal responsibilities, and the countless hours required to build technical skills often meant sacrificing sleep and comfort.

I felt frustrated, self-doubt, and exhaustion. At that time, giving up seemed easier than moving forward. Yet every obstacle strengthened my determination. The encouragement of friends reminded me that growth is never meant to be comfortable and that every expert was once a beginner. Then came the turning point. My purpose found direction.

When Purpose Found Direction

I found an environment where ambition met guidance, where my dreams would meet exposure, and where uncertainty was replaced with confidence. Through Igire Rwanda Organization implementing the SheCanCODE Bootcamp, offering Web Fundamentals training under Innovate4DigiJobs, I discovered more than technical training. I found mentors, a supportive community, and opportunities that challenged me to believe in my own potential.

For the first time, I could clearly see what I was capable of becoming. I no longer felt like someone trying to find a place in technology. I had found the environment where I belonged. Every lesson, every project, and every challenge became another step toward the future I had imagined.

Purpose Needs Direction

Today, I can confidently explain what I do, why I do it, and where I want to be in the next two to five years. And when I look back, I realize that purpose alone is not enough. Purpose needs direction, hard work, and sometimes the right environment to grow.

My journey has taught me that success is not about chasing every opportunity. It is about choosing one purpose, committing to it wholeheartedly, and having the courage to keep walking even when the road is difficult.

From Purpose to Possibility

Today, I stand with confidence and a clear sense of purpose. I can build software solutions using Java and Spring Boot, and I can manage and analyze data within databases. Now, I have started applying the skills I gained to solve real challenges in my society, building solutions for my family's business that have increased its reach and revenue.

I am really happy to make such actions, and I feel I am ready to create more value for society. I am now preparing to take advanced training that will deepen my technical expertise and bring me one step closer to becoming the software engineer I aspire to be.

To Every Young Woman and Every Young Person, This Is Yours

Don't let the noise of endless opportunities silence your purpose. The strongest hidden power you possess is the power to say "no" to distraction. Always choose persistence over existence, because your greatest potential is waiting on the other side of persistence.

Choose one path, commit to it, and keep moving forward. Always remember you have to be the best of the best in your path. Last but not least, it doesn't require you to have a fully determined goal and vision to start. All it requires is passion, time, discipline and consistency.

My story is still being written. But today I know one thing for certain: I am no longer chasing every opportunity. I am building a future with purpose.
